7/2/2018

Through our nonprofit collaborations, exhibitions, auctions and other projects, The Creeping Museum helped our contributing artists raise a total of $4,709 for an array of civil rights, animal welfare, health and human services, environmental, and educational causes in the first half of 2018.

The Haunted Menagerie
The Haunted Menagerie collection—released in February 2018–is our most ambitious project to date, thanks to the contributions of more than 25 participating artists and hundreds of hours of work. Highlights include:
  • Our Haunted Menagerie bookplate “exhibition”—featuring art by Canvas Menagerie, Benjamin Dewey, Christa Dippel, Amy Earles, Hidden Velvet, Marybel Martin, Becky Munich, Pantovola, Alexander Reisfar, and Layla Sullivan—has raised $280 so far for the Portland Audubon Society, in support of everything they do to help animals and inspire humans to love and protect nature.
  • Caley Hicks’ ‘Ghost Kitties’ scarf has raised $740 for Lil BUB's BIG Fund for the ASPCA to help special-needs dogs and cats.
  • The Eternal Companion pet memorial planchettes created by Fiendies have raised $685 for the Scott Wainner Pixie Care Clinic, which provides affordable veterinary care to the pets of homeless and low income Portland residents.
  • The Creature Comfort Ritual Kit created by Coleman Stevenson of The Dark Exact has raised $221 for the DoveLewis Velvet Assistance Fund, in honor of Coleman’s dear departed dog Oliver.
  • The very limited edition In the Lost Woods candles created by A Dark House raised $100 for the Oregon Environmental Council in support of their goal of bringing Oregonians together to protect our water, air and land with healthy solutions that work for today and for future generations.

Haunted Menagerie original art
Thanks to all of the artists who donated their time and original to our Haunted Menagerie exhibition (both a miniature show in our Little Free Library and a virtual show online), together we raised $1,390 for animals large and small:
  • $85 for the Scott Wainner Pixie Care Clinic (thanks to Diane Irvine Armitage)
  • $225 for The Little Shelter Animal Rescue and Adoption Center (thanks to Stephanie Buscema)
  • $55 for One Tail at a Time (thanks to Jenny Fontana)
  • $200 for Underdog Rescue (thanks to Darla Jackson)
  • $200 for the Coral Reef Alliance (thanks to Gretchen Lewis)
  • $230 for the Raincoast Conservation Foundation Save the Great Bears fund (thanks to Dena Seiferling)
  • $100 to Awesome Paws Rescue (thanks to Joe Vollan)
  • $95 to the Wagner Free Institute of Science (thanks to Laurel Witting)
  • $200 to the Save Lucy Campaign (thanks to Lyla Mori aka Moonflesh)

Other Q1 and Q2 2018 initiatives
  • Rebecca Reeves has donated $100 of proceeds from her Garden of Grief exhibition to the American Cancer Society, in honor of her father.
  • Our emergency Memento Vivere amulet sale in June raised a total of $802 for the RAICES Texas Family Reunification and Bond Fund and the Innovation Law Lab, a legal activism organization working to provide legal assistance to asylum-seekers detained here in Oregon.
  • Sales of our Resistance Insignia shield pins continue to support the work of the Southern Poverty Law Center—we’ve donated $138 so far in 2018.
  • Our auction partnership with Jessicka Addams raised $145 to support the March For Our Lives activism event in Washington, D.C. and provide financial support to the victims of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and their families.
  • Sales of Stephanie Buscema’s Loyal Order of the Black Cat badges continue to raise money for The Worthy Pause, in support of their goal of providing care to injured and abandoned animals and emotional relief to their human companions. This year we’ve raised $108 for The Worthy Pause so far.
